Many of these popular ipods and such seem to require subscription services, fees and prepacked music and downloading, none of which interest me for using a portable mp3 player. I want a small and durable mp3 player that i can simply copy mp3s that i have created and have on my computer to the portable mp3 player and listen to while excercising, working, riding, etc.. Need a decent sized storage, at least 1.5 GB. And ability to arrange the play pattern of mp3 files. As an actor, i record monoglouges and scene scripts in audio portions, and need the ability to save them to a portable mp3 player that i can use to rehearse and memorize scripts through repeated listening, pausing at certain points, etc. As well as music playback. NO subscription or downloading based players, just straight mp3 players, with voice recording option would be nice. And affordable. Any suggestions?
Im looking for portable mp3 player to run %26amp; bike with i can copy mp3s straight from my computer %26amp; play.?
if you have it all in mp3 format then any player will work. That is why it is called an mp3 player. It gets more complicated when you have different companies that include AAC, WMA, Ogg, WAV, or AIFF. Then music providers put their little coding in so it won't play on some competing player. You can use windows media player or itunes to rip a cd to mp3. Then transfer the mp3s to you player. Simple as 1,2,3.

MP3/MP4 player-trying to figure out brand name (might be bootleg)?
Please help, my husband bought this little slim blue MP3 player in a black box that has a sticker on the outside saying "suggested retail $365.95" he paid $80 for it from s treet vendor. Now that I have seen it, there is no brand name, it says "made n china" the box is black with a pic of a woman on the beach holding a shell on the front. The player only says MP3/MP4/FM/USB digital player. He was told it was for music, movies, etc %26amp; he was getting a great deal. Now I think he got a bootleg %26amp; got ripped off. It's hard to understand the instruction manual, it is in broken english. The player came with one song on it "Forever Your Girl". Am I going to have problems trying to use this thing? Never had one before and I was wondering if anyone is familiar with this model. There is a musical note symbol on the left corner of box and the UPC is 1032827495164.I did a yahoo search %26amp; only found it to be a MP3 player, brand unknown, please help, is this a piece of junk or will it work good?

It will probably work OK, they sell many of these things on ebay for around $40-$50 from what I've heard they do OK.
Anyway once you plug it in via usb, you need to open "my computer" (if the folder doesn't auto pop up) %26amp; select the proper drive, then you can place whatever music / movie files in it you want.
This should work for any usb drive, not just for mp3/mp4 players.
Reply:Never pay full price, just because it says Apple doesn't mean it's bullet proof. I bought this one on Amazon, and all my friends loved it..

Reply:My senses tell me its a cheap Chinese knockoff, I'm afraid it won't last to long, they've got a bad rep. If you can return it thats what I'd advise you to do.

Mp3 player charger gone missing...??
Okay, so I have a Phillips 30 Gb. mp3 player and I lost the stupid charger! What's worse is that the charger and the usb cord that allows you to hook it up to your computer were both built into the same cord. Oh, and the mp3 player isn't being made any more. Infact, they stopped about a month after I got mine. So now my mp3 player is dead and I don't know where to find a charger. I originally bought it off wal-mart.com but I can't find the charger on the site. help, please! That was a large investment on my teenage budget.

Converting WMA to MP3?
I'm not good with computers. I'm not terrible, but don't be too technical. I want to make some MP3 Cds for my moms stereo but all my music is ripped from cds in WMA. I love WMA so i wanted to see if i could convert the files to mp3 and then burn them and erase them. In WM player i can rip my cds in mp3 format but i cannot convert the wma files to mp3 in the WM audio converter. I need a codec, aparently. My questions are:
If i can rip the CDs directly to MP3 format, doesn't taht mean i already have the codec?
Where can i get a codec? can you recomend one? i'd prefer a free one, but i'd rather buy one than downloading som crappy thing that will damage my computer....
Thanks
Converting WMA to MP3?
It'd be easer to use a free or trial program that converts .wma files to .mp3 files because they usually have the codeces needed already installed. Here's a list of some but be careful because I haven't used them and therefore can't recommend them.
Free WMA to MP3 Converter 1.16 (free)

MEDA WMV/WMA/MP3 Converter 2.1 (free) http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/...
WMA to MP3 Plus 1.0 (trial)

WMA To MP3 Converter 2.8.5 (shareware) http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/...

Mp3 hardware problem?
I've just got a dell precision laptop. I don't know much about the specifications but im on windows xp. The first thing I tried to do was install 'musicmatch jukebox' for my mp3 player but at the end of installation it comes up with the message "This device requires service pack 1 or later. Please install service pack 1" It happened when installing the mp3's device manager too. I've never come across the message before. Also on "My Computer" when my mp3 player is connected it either comes up as a camera (with no properties and nothing to explore) or doesn't show up at all. Does anybody know what might be wrong or how I can fix this?

have you done the updates for XP, if not go to control panel then automatic updates, and make sure it is turned on, or you can go to http://www.microsoft.com and download the updates from there, if this has already been done and it is referring to the mp3 go to the makers site and see if they have an update for the mp3.
Reply:Your windows doesn't have a service pack try downloading a different programe the you have isn't that great anyway try cool edit pro this one should work fine.
