MP3 to WMA help?

I was told that WMA files are smaller than MP3 files, but I just used a MP3 to WMA convertor and the size of the folder is 250 MB after converting the files to WMA but the size of the folder is 119MB when the files are MP3


what have I done wrong or was I misinformed.

You may have converted them to WMA lossless format. Check in the settings when you convert them and make sure you have the regular WMA format selected and not the lossless. The lossless format will be larger in size because it doesn't remove anything from the file when it compresses them. Converting MP3 to WMA lossless is kind of pointless as MP3 is a lossy format meaning it removes some of the harder to hear sounds from the file and unless you know what to look for won't notice it. Anyway like I said check the settings and make sure you're using regular WMA and not the lossless form.
