I want to buy an MP3 player?

I do not own an ipod, and am starting to go for an Mp3 because they are slightly cheaper. I don't really need a ton of features, so an Mp3 sounds more for me. This is the one I'm thinking about, so I can work out at the gym and listen http://www.rcaaudiovideo.com/en-US/model... Is that Mp3 a good choice? Do all mp3 players come with wireless earphones (that's a feature I really want)?

Here's a list of other MP3 players http://www.rcaaudiovideo.com/en-US/model... Is there a better one I should pick?

Sorry, I'm just very naive about music player buying. I hope there are some really techy people out there who would be kind enough to help. I appreciate you all!! Thank you!

You should get a creative zen Vision m, (which is 110% worth the money) but if your budget is a little lower, try a Creative nano, or a creative Zen V., I promise you wont regret it, and please check out this link for more info on The creative Zen Vision M

Professional MP3 Player?

Please can somone recommend a PROFESSONAL mp3 player, preferably rackmountable. I need it to add to my PA system for pubs/clubs singers/performers etc.

I would have to load tracks onto it via USB or cd but i do NOT wand a cd/mp3 player it must be HDD based.

And I must stress it should be professional not just the standard mp3 players you can buy for

£30 from Argos.

Memory wise about 60-80GB+ would be good.

Budget = around £500

Professional MP3 Player?
I know that Citronic launched a dual CD player last year....which also had a HDD built in. You could play the tracks from the hard-drive and use the same controls as you would for the cd function.

I've had a quick look and can't find it listed for sale anywhere. Everyone is nuts these days for table top single cd players...think they discontinued this product recently.

An alternative system is made by Cortex. You can hook up any USB storage device and control audio playback.

A similar controller is made by Numark, but costs £100 more.

Philips MP3 Player - Broken Screen?

I recently turned my philips mp3 player on, to find that the half of the screen wasn't working properly. The mp3 player itself is working perfectly. I bought it off ebay, so i don't have the reciept to return it, bt i think it would be out of the warranty date anyway. Does anyone know if you can buy a new screen? And fix it yourself? It is an 8GB mp3 player, so i don't exactly want to just throw it away. I really like it. Thanks for the help.

Philips MP3 Player - Broken Screen?
You need to reset it(look in manual or web site)

Try formatting it =

To format = Plug in your mp3* Go to start* Go to my computer* Right click you mp3 and choose format* save music/video to your PC before formatting*

Questions on the MP3 players?

Hi folks,

I am a newbie on this high tech stuff called "MP3" players.

I have downloaded some music from the limewire, and I want to play those musics on my big audio stereo cd player.

But when I do the web search on the MP3 player, there are only small ones that you can listen with the headphone.

I want the MP3 player with big speakers.

Is there a such thing? Are all MP3 players for the headphone only?

thanks

Questions on the MP3 players?
Nope, there are stereo sets that can play MP3. Just go to Best Buy or whatever and ask for it. Also, those MP3 players for headphones like iPods and stuff, they sell speakers for the MP3 players so you can blast it all over the place. It doesn't neccessarily mean you can only listen just with headphones only.

Hope this helps :D
Reply:I know my stereo system plays mp3s, but I have yet to figure out how. Most of the time you have to buy the player and the dock it goes on for the stereo look. This link shows the iPod version you might be interested in.
Reply:You will need to burn them into CD by .WAV files in order to play them on your big stereo. There are a lot of program out there which you can convert your MP3 files into WAV files. I had tried iTunes and it works out fine to me.
Reply:you need a double jack ended cable the same size as connector for the headphones socket i can plug my mp3 in to my partners car the aux connection for this is right at the back in the glove compartment(ford focus) you need to turn the volume to max on the mp3 and control the volume on car stereo

Questions on the MP3 players?
I doubt there is an mp3 player like a boom box. One of the features of MP3 is the portability.

All is not lost. You can either buy the little MP3 players and a boom box that has an audio in jack. Or you can burn the MP3 music onto a CD and buy a boom box that reads MP3 on CD (there is a logo "MP3" on it).

I hope that helps.
Reply:the power output on any given mp3 is usually milliwatts. it just wouldnt sound too good on big speakers but u can try.

Which mp3 player should I get?

ok, so right now I have a sandisk sansa e240 and I liked it for awhile, but I bought some videos from that new Amazon Unbox and expected to be able to put it on my mp3 player, but when I try to convert it says that the file format is not supported. I am now looking for a new mp3 player that can play video and I was going to get an ipod but now I'm worried b/c of the whole NBC not renewing with Itunes thing. I am going to use the mp3 player while running so I would prefer that it wouldn't skip when I do so. HELP????!!!!

Which mp3 player should I get?
I looked into it a bit so heres some info... Amazon Unbox looks like it does not work with Ipods.(link below) I recently switched to an Ipod and I love the thing compared to the zune and stuff. The NEW IPOD NANO ROCKS! It's up to you about the NBC content. Just remember to get a FLASH memory mp3 player if you plan on running with it. The nano for example...doesn't skip or anything.

Update: The AMAZON Unbox downloads to a DRM protected WMV file. (not ipod friendly) There is a way to remove the DRM and convert to an MP4 but it's not worth the time. (I did try it and it worked lol )

Remove .mp3 or .wmv from the filename display (php script)?

Please see this question for the details.

http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/?qi...

what they suggested removes the .mp3 bit, but the one thing I didnt point out is that the hyperlink is reliant on the filename, i.e. if i remvoe the .mp3 from file.mp3, the hyperlink is also file - which then doesnt do the job.

Suggestions please

Remove .mp3 or .wmv from the filename display (php script)?
Instead of using

$fn = substr($fn, 0, strrpos($fn,"."));

use

$fnd = substr($fn, 0, strrpos($fn,"."));

Then you have the original filename as $fn, while the displayed filename is $fnd.

Simple!

Sorry about the mistake in my post on that answer, I forgot that strrpos deals with the last instance of a character.

How to Convert MPEG4 to MP3?

I have just bought a MP3/WMA player, and I have tried to load up some song from itune music but most of the types of music are MPEG4 type. Is there a way (for free) to convert MPEG4 to MP3 if there is a download or anything can you put down the link here. I did:

1. Download %26amp; install iTunes

2. Go into preferences in iTunes and choose "Import Using: Mp3 encoder" under the Advanced -%26gt; Importing tabs.

3. drag the AAC (mpeg 4) audio files into iTunes

4. Right click (or command click on mac) on the songs that you want to convert and choose "convert selection to MP3"

When I go to convert the song to MP3 it says "Can not be converted because protected files cannot be converted to other formats."

Thanks.

Sony mp3 player software alternative?

I need help to get rid of this garbage called SonicStage that Sony forces you to use in order to organize and transfer your music to their mp3 players. Yes, I tried Windows Media Player, but it doesn't work. Anyone knows any software that works with Sony mp3 players (atrac compression)? Sony customer service told me that I HAVE to use SonicStage. Reducing MP3 file size for streaming to dial-up users?

I'm having trouble streaming MP3s to dial-up users. I have M3U files pointing to the MP3. They stream fine on broadband but dial-up users are getting a lot of pauses. The MP3s are just voice, and I'm using Lame encoder. I've lowered quality to sample rate 11025 and 24kbps bitrate (that's about as low as I can go before it starts sounding like an AM radio.) It's still pausing a lot. I used RealPlayer until recently and it was always fine for dialup; the MP3s are about the same file size so why are they pausing so much? And is there any other way to reduce the MP3 file size? I really want to stick with MP3 and not deal with RealPlayer anymore.

Reducing MP3 file size for streaming to dial-up users?
MP3 is a compressed format - it's difficult to get a smaller one, .wma aren't smaller.
Reply:Change them to a wma. Its a smaller file. Get something like dbpoweramp converter and resample them and use a lower bitrate.

I meant to ad if you resample the wma at a lower bitrate it will sound better than the mp3 because its a smaller file. If you are just streaming it it doesnt matter if its a wma. Its a widows format and will play on most players. If you want people to be able to download them then have the mp3 on the server too

Ebay? mp3/mp4 player?
Look, these other 2 answerer's are yanking you. First, you look at the product. Sure, they're both made in China. What isn't these days??? Next, you look at the seller's feedback. Both look ok, but the 2nd guy only has 13. That's not a bad thing, just means he hasn't been on eBay for years. They both look ok.

Remember, you always have recourse with eBay/ Paypal if need be. Just do your research on seller's feedback, and you should be ok.

Good luck!

You should stick with brands that are well known. Creative, Apple, etc.

Furthermore, ebay isn't the best place to buy one.
Reply:Fake and Fake. These are made in china and won't last you for more than 6 months. Look at the screen, it's larger than a regular nano. It means it's a counterfeit item. But, it would be best if you ordered your item off amazon or get another brand, like creative or samsung off ebay.
Reply:I have another model (1st generation look) that I purchased over a year ago (06/06) and it is still working great! I picked it up for about a 1/4 of the price of a comparable ipod nano and it plays videos, is a voice recorder, fm radio and more. You can pick one up from a US seller at www.catabox.com. They come with a six-month warranty as well.

What MP3 Players are Compatible with Itunes?

I had an Ipod and all my music is on itunes.. most of it is MP3... So will other mp3 players work with itunes? I have been looking at the new sony walkmans and the samsung touch mp3 players... they would work with itunes right?

What MP3 Players are Compatible with Itunes?
iTunes will not recognize other mp3 players, even if all the music is in mp3 format.

The iTunes was created as the interface between your computer and iPod only.

It's not just Apple that operates like this. The other manufacturers are very proprietary with their own players and gambled that their format would be more widely accepted than iTunes. They were wrong

YOu can still take all your data (mp3 files) and move them to whatever software the other mp3 player requires, except AAC files and specifically iTunes purchased AAC files which won't be able to convert via the protection.
Reply:the only ones that i know of are ipods and the new creative zen
Reply:no itunes is for ipods but i have herd that the Sony A800 series is compatible with it but im not sure

but other than that i dont think so
Reply:A few MP3 players will interface with iTunes. Be warned, though, you can't copy iTunes-store bought files to anything other than an iPod unless it is in the iTunes Plus format. This is because of the DRM (digital rights managment) that is on the files.

Search google with the specific model number of the player your interested in to see if users report success using iTunes with the player.

Good luck! :)

320kbps MP3 VS flac/ape, can ordinary human ear tell the difference?

I'm currently updating my MP3 library to higher bit rate. My speakers aren't very good but I can clearly tell the difference between 128kbps and 320kbps. I wonder if I can tell the difference between a 320kbps MP3 quality and lossless FLAC/APE quality even if I upgrade my speakers to one in the 150 dollars range. If human ears cannot tell the difference without some very expensive headphone or speakers, then there is no point for me to spend all the time to upgrade my collection to lossless format, isn't that right?

To put it short, I'd like to know if the difference in quality between a 320kbps MP3 file and a lossless FLAC/APE file is obvious or not to most people without a VERY good speaker/soundcard system.

320kbps MP3 VS flac/ape, can ordinary human ear tell the difference?
If you have great speakers and a highly tuned ear, you'll notice subtle differences between a 320kbps MP3 and a FLAC or APE file.

You will definitely notice a difference between 128kbps MP3 files and 320kbps MP3 files.

My suggestion would be to pick 6-10 songs, try them in each format and see if you can tell the difference. If you can't, don't bother changing your entire music collection.

RCA MP3 Cannot delete songs?

MY RCA H100a MP3 player works fine, but I have tried every possible way to locate and remove 24 unwanted songs. They only appear on the mp3 player. Explorer files, itunes nor windows media center cannot make these songs appear. A few of these unwanted songs were loaded on before I purchased the MP3 player at Christmas. There are 198 out of 222 songs that do appear and I have been able to manipulate. Does anyone know why they become hidden files and how to remove them. I would gladly delete all songs away just to remove the few. Thanks for reviewing this message.

How do you make this mp3 player work with mac?

My brother recently bought a Coby, 256MB mp3 player, Model No. MPC641. It said that Mac OS X didn't require the software installation, and they're right. I drag and drop songs from my iTunes to the window for the mp3 player and it shows the song there. But when I disconnect the mp3 player, the songs aren't on there. I've tried it with the mp3 player on, and off, on hold and not, and I've even kept it connected for a while. I tried calling custumer support, but they weren't much of a help.

So, how do I keep the songs on the mp3 player.

Most of the cds burned but a lot of them said directory not found. When I tried to play with it, it said that all my songs were deleted and when I hooked it up to my computer the computer recognizes it but when I try to copy the mp3 files and place them in the correct folder it says directory not found again. Now it says no files when I go into the music section of my mp3. The mp3 has no brandname on it and it says firewire. version blah, blah, blah. Can anybody whose computer savy help me? How do I get it to find the directory?

There are several options for free, legal music downloads.

The first is Podcasts. My favorite is Crap from the Past at crapfromthepast.com. The host Ron "Boogymoster" Gerber, describes it as a graduate level course in pop music, and he's not far off. You'll hear a lot of music that hasn't been on the air for a long time. The program is available as a podcast, with three half hour segments coming out a week.

Another great source of Public Domain and Creative Commons music is archive.org. For example, It's amazing how much old school Jazz has fallen into the Public Domain. A lot of techno and pop artists use a Creative Commons license that makes non-commercial distribution legal.

Jamendo.com is a record label that makes all their music available for download for free. The idea is to give away MP3s to encourage people to buy the actual CDs.

You can also look into various music Podcasts. For example, there are some really good Celtic music podcasts, Celtic Music News being my favorite. celticmusicnews.com

The BBC and NPR have a variety of music programs, most of which are free downloads or can be listened to as streaming media.

Finally, there's etree.org. A LOT of artists give permission to allow the recording and distribution of their live performances. etree.org only offers "lossless" recordings, so you'll need to convert them into another format to use them on your portable media player. The good news is since these are lossless files to start with, you won't have the data degradation and conversion artifacts typical of say, converting a WMA to an MP3. It's more like ripping an CD.

All told, there's a LOT out there free of charge. The Kuro5hin article I link to below has even more detail.

Reply:Sounds like the mp3 player came equipped with a folder where files are supposed to be stored. That folder got deleted, and now it has nowhere to put things. You would need to know what that folder was called and recreate it.

The cards that go in digital cameras are like this: there's a special folder where the pictures are stored, and if that folder gets deleted, the camera can't use the card. Most cameras have a setup mode that lets people create the folder (sometimes called formatting the card).

Right now I use a smaller Sandisk Sansa. It's not a hard drive player and doesn't hold much, but it's also compatible with the technology above, and gets pretty good battery life.

My sister has one of the Philips players referenced above, it too is compatible with this technology and from what I've heard works rather well ;)

My mp3 player's stuck on "SANSA 240 1.0GB" some one help, please!!!?

I just got mine for Christmas and was barely playing with it yesterday and once I figured how it worked, it was great. But when I just added 2-3 songs into it the mp3 player it said it was updating the library but it was taking awhile and I was in a hurry so before I had to leave, I just took the USB port out and I guess from there it messed up?

When I turn the mp3 player on it says it's initializing but it remains on "SANSA 240 1.0GB" and doesn't allow me to use any of it's functions/menu button and won't even turn off, so I'd have to take the battery out to do so. And when I plug it into the computer the mp3 player also goes to "SANSA 240 1.0GB" and my computer doesn't even detect a USB was connected.

I don't have a reciept, don't know where my uncle got it, and whatever it came in had already been thrown out so I was wondering if it's possible to fix it without having to return it/go through all that...

My mp3 player's stuck on "SANSA 240 1.0GB" some one help, please!!!?
Never unhook the USB untill after you have shut down the media player. You must take that battery out or wait till it decharges its self. Good day.

Help!! Mp3 player problems!!!!?

I just bought a Coby MP-C827 mp3 player. And the instructions for putting the music onto it was to drag and drop onto the player. Now ive tried to sync it on with my windows media player but it says 'cannot play file', and the drag and drop wouldnt work either. I dont know what to do. I even tried switching all my music over to real music player, but then it said 'the music file is incompatible with my player' which is mp3 so that cant be right. All my music is mp3, not protected, and it still wont work, I need this for tommorrw, so can somebody help me now!

Help!! Mp3 player problems!!!!?
Try syncing using Windows Media Player (if you have WMP version 10). That's how I've always done it with both my SanDisk and my RCA. If that won't work check the manufacturer's website for firmware updates to make it an MTP device.

If you look at it, it should have the extension .mp3 Now, plug your MP3 player in your computer and open My Computer. Then, wait till it refreshes and look for USB Drive, or something like that. Open that and it should show everything in your player now. Now, take the original music file and copy it. Paste it into the USB Drive folder. Unplug your player and it should be in there. I find it easier to not drag and drop through a music program, just in the Windows Explorer.

Hope this helps.

Phillips mp3 player plz help quick!?
If you have existing music files that need to be converted, you'll need a conversion program like Blaze Media pro, which will convert to a particular file format.

If you're trying to rip songs off of a CD, you can use Windows Media Player. In Windows Media Player, go to tools, then options, then click on the Rip Music tab. From there you can choose the file type to save as, then select the bit rate you want to save it at. 128 kbps is CD quality and has a smaller file size.

Once you've saved the settings, go to the Rip tab and put your CD in the drive. Pick which songs you want to rip and it'll save to the directory you've selected.

Good luck!

Burning MP3's to CD's to use in Car Stereo?

Hi Im about to buy a Pioneer CD/MP3/WMA Tuner for my car. Not sure of the model number but i guess most players probaly work in a similar way.

I want to burn my MP3's to CD's to use in the car. Of course you can fit many MP3 albums on 1 CD. Do I have to put all the songs straight on the cd in the root directory of the cd or can i make album or artist subdirectories and drill through the directories to get the song i want? Any help appreciated - i dont wanna burn unasable disks.

Burning MP3's to CD's to use in Car Stereo?
You can make folders by the artist name and put the files in there.

I recommend you use at least 192 kbps with mp3's to have good sound quality. Contrary to what a lot say, 128 kbps isn't CD-Quality.

Another tip is to use "normalizer" software on your mp3's. This levels out the volume of each file so some aren't really soft and others loud.
Reply:Some head units can browse through folders containing mp3 files, and some can't. Just try out both ways as you will not be burning unusable disks, just making new coasters.

Why will my MP3 player not go to my music, I done everything I can so far. Please help.?

I have a Sansa m240 MP3 player, I turn it on it says Sansa but it used to go right to my music, and now it just stops when it says Sansa. I have pushed every button while it is on, I have checked the "hold" swicth i have called the Sandisk company, the man told me to remove the battery and hold the power swicth down for 30 seconds, let go and replace the battery after 2 to 3 minutes, i did that. It did not work. Then he said to go to Sandisk.com and download the "Firmware Updater" i downloaded it, went through the steps then the last step said to turn the MP3 player on plug in the USB thing then go to menu on your MP3 player, i cant go to menu. The last choice was to return the MP3 player. It was a gift for Christmas, My Mother did not keep the reciept, and Best Buy requires reciept and package that it came in. The package it came in is gone, I threw it away. So now i cannot return it and I havent found a way to fix it. PLEASE help me figure out this problem. Thank You Very Much.

Why will my MP3 player not go to my music, I done everything I can so far. Please help.?
sounds to me like a button is busted which is easy and cheap to fix or you gave it a good bump which means harder to fix and more expensive(if it's worth fixing). Call again the company and don't tell them what you did so far... maybe they'll give you a different answer...

Compressed Mp3 Files?

While trying to play some music using windows media player 10 i get an error telling me that the file is a compressed media that is unreadable. The file is in a mp3 format. while looking into the file i found that it is not registering as an mp3 file at all (it does not allow the usually tagging features and such). so my question is, does anyone know how to uncompress the file that is compressed into the mp3? if it helps to exclude any ones suggestions im running Combined Comunity Codecs to run some video formats, so i have already tried installing codecs to run this file.

Compressed Mp3 Files?
you cannot decompress a compressed file. Too much information has already been lost during the compression phase to help. You also have the added problem of the file not being able to be read. This means that the file is either of another format and is improperly labeled or that the file was corrupted either during the encoding process or at some other point.

Your best bet is to burn fresh copies yourself. I'd recommend using the LAME codec to do this.

You should also consider upgrading to Windows Media 11.
Reply:Try droppign it into a program like Winamp and see if it plays.

Chances are it is jsut compressed into a different format and someone changed the extension to .mp3

One user stated you can not decompress it. This is false, however, it IS true that if you do find the format and decompress it, you will lose significant quality, IF IT IS A LOSSY FORMAT. When you decompress it to a wav it will still sound just as bad as it originally did before. When you recompress it as MP3, it will add even more artifacts. (Undesirable noise)

If you find a way to play it I suggest keeping it as is and playing it that way.

Just realized too, if you try changing the .mp3 extension to something else it may work, but again, I suggest Winamp it has broader codec support than WM. It could be FLAC, AAC, OGG, APE, SHN, there is a lot, but few are common really.
Reply:An uncompressed mp3 is a WAV file

A wave file is ... say an exact replica of the sound itself...

To answer your question, the only way to uncompress this file is to figure out what it was compressed with...

the compression type is literally the 'key' all mp3's are compressed the same way. wma files are compressed differently.

there really isn't a way to 'uncompress' it. Once a sound or video file is compressed.. the information is gone. thats why its smaller.

Nice .wav and .mp3 editor?

Hi,

Can you please recommend a nice .wav and .mp3 editor, that'll let me remove a part of a mp3 file and save it as a new mp3?

What i'm saying is, something that will let me extract, say, the 1:20 to 2:00 minutes portion of a mp3 file and let me save it as a seperate one.

Thank You.

I'm Buying An MP3 Player, I Have A Question About USB Ports?

Alright, I'm thinking of buying a Sony NWZ-S618FBLK Walkman® Video MP3 Player, %26amp; I seen that it uses a 2.0 USB connection, %26amp; I was wondering if it would still work on my 1.1 USB port? I thought it still should, but only @ the 1.1 USB speed, but my cousin just told me that his MP3 Player uses a 2.0 USB connection, %26amp; it doesn't work on his computer, which uses a 1.1 USB port, he has to go to our grandma's house any time he wants to put music on it. I'm a pretty advanced computer user, %26amp; I've only heard of this "non-compatibility" issue happening with a select few devices out there, %26amp; I was shocked when he said his MP3 Player wouldn't work on his computer, so I wanted to make sure this Sony MP3 Player would work on my computer before I spend over $150 on it %26amp; then plug it up %26amp; have get the error message. This question is really only directed towards the people out there that actually already own this Sony MP3 Player %26amp; have a computer with a 1.1 USB port, does it work with your computers?

I'm Buying An MP3 Player, I Have A Question About USB Ports?
I have the same player, but I use usb 2.0. In any mp3 player, it should state if it is compatible with usb 1.1 and 2.0.

Question about mp3 player music????
lol :)

i have an iPod, with your money, i would save 50 more $$, and get the new Nano.

1. Yes, if you use iTunes/WMP, just Rip the album, drag, then drop!

2.Only select MP3 Players. (Not iPods Though!)

3. No, iTunes is a great place, but most are starting to use other 3rd-party plces. (amazonMP3, LimeWire, etc.)

4.You might want to consider space, (GB or MB), Screen size, System use (Apple, Windows, etc), and many more!

5. All I can think of is LimeWire for HM Songs! (I got her CD from iTunes!) She is HAWT!

lol, plz i hope i helped you!
Reply:Sounds like a cute little player. It should come with a cd that you place in your computer to help you out with putting stuff on your player. You may need Window's Media Player or something similar (depends on your player). You can transfer music from your cds by "ripping" them and then sync them to your player (windows media player does this real simple). You can sign up for napster or something similar for music. You don't have to use itunes but if you download off the net be prepared to pay for the music. Be sure to read all of the manuals that come with your player. Have fun.

Question on how to burn data mp3's for car mp3 player?

I would like to be able to burn mp3's that I have ripped from my audio cd's onto my computer onto data cd's that I can play on my car mp3 player. I have attempted this using windows media player but the specs for my car mp3 player specify, Type 1 Cd Rom Burning, ISO format. The data MP3's don't work in my player. (2007 VW GTI)

What software will place the mp3's in the right data format for the car mp3 player to recognize them? Or do I just need to do something different in the ripping/burning process with Windows Media Player11.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Question on how to burn data mp3's for car mp3 player?
I have iTunes and have done it before. You could try it and see if it works in your car. Here's how:

Choose Edit %26gt; Preferences, click Advanced, and then click Burning. Choose MP3 CD as the Disc Format, and then click OK. Then select the playlist containing the songs you want to burn. If the playlist contains more songs than fit on a CD, iTunes burns only the number of songs that fit on one disc, and then asks you to insert another disc to continue burning the rest o the songs.
Reply:Burn the disc just like any other data disc, just put the MP3's on and burn it.

How do I keep an mp3 file as an mp3 when burning to CD, vs it appearing as a cda file once burned?

I make mp3 CD's all the time. However, today once I burned the CD and went back to check it for accuracy, the file extensions on the newly burned CD were now "cda" files, instead of mp3 files. I've not changed any preferences or settings on my computer and I'm the only one who uses it. I don't know why as recently as last week, my CD burned mp3 files and they stayed as mp3 files, but today when I burned mp3 files, once on the CD the extension was "cda". How do I fix this? I use Roxio Easy CD Creator (and have for years.) I make CD's as part of my business, but today all I'm getting are "cda" files that no one can use. Can anyone explain this to me?

How do I keep an mp3 file as an mp3 when burning to CD, vs it appearing as a cda file once burned?
Yes ^^^ , burn as a data CD and NOT as an audio CD. You will be able to burn tons of MP3s onto that CD. Be aware that not all CD players can play MP3s.
Reply:Burn it as a Data CD, not an audio cd. It will keep the mp3s as mp3s.

Problems downloand mp3 files with URL's?

I seem to be having problems when I'm given a URL to download mp3's. What happens is that instead of getting the typical box asking me where to save, my browser will opem and quicktime will start playing the mp3 file. Here's an example of a file that I have problems with http://homepage.mac.com/airplayradio/Sch...

I also have the same problems with mp3 files at garageband.com Any advice is much appreciated.

Thanks, John

After it is finished downloading, click on the triangle on the right and click "Save As Source... ". It will then give you the dialog box to save it to your hard drive.

Does my way to allow MP3 players at school work?

Recently, the Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties have banned MP3 players of all types and the Famous clothing brand on school campuses.

Im a bit of a techie, so i thought of a way around this (for the music that it)

Nearly all cellular phones created post-2000 are capable of playing the MP3 format, whether it be a ringtone or an actual song, it should be considered an MP3 player, but it is the students only emergency and private form of telecommunication available on school grounds. It is illegal for any school district to ban cellular phones, and since they play MP3's, it would allow MP3 players such as the iPhone, W600i, LG Chocolate and so on available on school campuses.

This also allows a wide variety of other players that play other formats such as WMA, WAV, OGG, ATRAC and so on.

So my fellow high school brethren...come this late August or September...bring your MP3 players and wave your music and cell phones in their FACE!

Take that principle Skinner!

Does my way to allow MP3 players at school work?
The schools banned mp3 players because you should be in school learning not in school listening to music.

It's perfectly legal to ban cell phones. You have no inherent right to possess one, and at school you are there to learn not to have "private communication." As for emergency communication, have you ever heard of a pay phone? It's really neat how they work. You put in these things called coins, which means they represent money (I'm assuming Daddy gave you a piece of plastic for your 10th birthday, so you don't know what real money is). When the coins go in, you can make a phone call. It's an amazing concept really.

Maybe you should spend more time doing homework and less time trying to undermine the system of "principle Skinner." You should have paid more attention in spelling because it is "principal." Or maybe you're just a rich kid from LA with nothing better to do than whine.

In case you don't understand anything I've written so far, your way to allow MP3 players at school DOES NOT work.
Reply:lol nice

Can't copy limewire mp3 files onto my mp3 player?

l can get all music files inc:(limewire.)into my mp3 folder from there, "right click" "send to" mp3 player.this works with everything execpt limewire files, l just get a copy of the file in the mp3 folder.it just won't transfer to the mp3 player.

love some help!

Can't copy limewire mp3 files onto my mp3 player?
Drag and drop yo, or use Windows Media Player to sync them. With your mp3 player plugged into the USB port, open WMP and click the "sync" tab. It will automatically sync your music and playlists to your player. But first you must add the music to WMP by dragging them into the library.
Reply:I use Limewire all the time..You have to download the file to your computer. I use a temp file on my desk top to download to ... then I scan everything before I put it into my music file..You can transfer the file from your computer to the mp3 player after downloading it.
Reply:Go to library.Go to explore then you should be able drag the music across to your media player to sync.Or right click the tune and it will give you options as to where you want it sent to. Good luck.Gd
