MP3 / mobile phone advice please?

My daughter wants a MP3 player. Her mobile phone is a bit long in the tooth as well. I have been looking and it appears that you can get a mobile phone that will also do what a MP3 player does for not much more than the MP3. Is there a down side to it ? does it use your phone credit up listening to the music or watching video clips. She is on "pay as you go" so is this still compatable? Any advice on makes ect would be great thankyou ps we are looking around the £100 mark.( or less would be nice)

She would get a better phone (and you would get more for your money) if you took out a contract- there are ways of limiting costs so that she doesn't land you with a supersize phone bill! Sony Ericsson phones are good for MP3 (I use mine in the gym) but you may need to buy an additional memory card as the one's that come with the phones don't always hold much. Have a look on the Carphone Warehouse site for impartial advice on options. If you want to buy one, you will usually get a better deal from the network of your choice if you deal direct- shops often have sales targets to meet and cannot match the offers you get by phone.

Reply:well if she is on pay as you go, that will not change the phone quality although it might be less expesive with a contract. But listening to downloaded music doesnt use up your credit!

I just got the smsung m20. and its really cool but might be a lil more than 100
Reply:There are hundreds of makes of mobiles with mp3, and no it doesn'r charge anything, obviusly. you download songs from a UsB lead on your computer, you you can get mp3 and mp4 phones for under a tenner these days, personally i think a samsung d600 or higher specification or a sony ericson walkman phone are good.
Reply:you could go into the shop and see what they recomend if you .Buy an ipod they area night mare because you have to have i tunes you cannot drag and drop from your hard drive on your pc .

some of the phones on the market will need a cable to put the tunes off the pc on too the phone
