Are mp3's taking over cd's?

it seems as though that mp3 technology has taken over most of the music industry. me personally, i prefer cd's over mp3's because i feel that mp3's take away the purpose of a band producing an album. yes ... i do go out and actually buy cd's. when you buy an album, you get all the art work that was put on the cd and the booklets with the lyrics and art work, which the artists put their work into. i just don't understand why mp3 technology is taking over cd's.

Are mp3's taking over cd's?
I believe so. You can download MP3 music from the Web and even listen to an ''all request'' MP3 radio station originating in Canada that blows RealAudio out of the water. In short, it's taking the Net by storm - and causing a storm of copyright controversy in the music recording industry.

It's the kind of technology that is almost impossible to control, and could even spark a paradigm shift in how music is distributed.

In technical terms, MP3 is the audio component of the MPEG 1 (Motion Picture Experts Group) digital video standard, the first generation of digital video recording technology.

MP3 is a compression technology. It uses mathematical algorithms and other techniques to produce a kind of shorthand version of a digital data file used to store multimedia content. When the file is uncompressed, it ''plays back'' more or less in

its original form and with its original quality. More or less.
Reply:yes....and soon something else will take over mp3's.........I will never get caught up!!!!!!!!!
Reply:Well, you seem to already know that MP3's are taking over. The reason why is simple. The record companies were [and are] just too greedy. The artists are the innocent victims.
Reply:I agree with you.........CD's are amazing because you can play them in your car and its better quality than anythin youll get from itrip or burnt cd. Also, you can put the cd online so you can have both as opposed to just mp3, and i love album art
Reply:yeah...and soon....====
