Mp3 players?

My parents want to buy my brother an Mp3 player for his birthday, but are unsure about a few points. I have an ipod, and want to know, do you get software with the Mp3 player which enables you to put your Cds on to it, like with an ipod? Also can you buy tunes from the net, like on itunes to put on the Mp3 player?

Any help would be appreciated.

thanx

Mp3 players?
I am familiar with this. The hardware of the iPod which is manifactured by Hewlett-Packard is better than the mp3 players of the past.Wheras, people make silly mistakes by just blindly buying it.The software which is made by Apple Computer is horrible. It expands the memory of songs which reduces the amount of storage on your iPod.If the song is only 4mb iTunes makes it 7mb or 10mb.I burned a cd usind iTunes on my mp3discman and i got only 20 songs-where each song was 35mb!!!! That is why the iPods are 30GB,8gb4gb.

I advice your parents to buy the SONY Walkman-Digital Music player which ranges between 512mb to 10GB(depending on your choice).I have the 512mb one where i can listen to the radio, store upto 340 songs and use 30mb space on it for my school work as it is a USB drive too.Not to forget it has a electrolumiscent screen where i would say the iPod is better as the mp3 player has a small one and the ipod has a big one with color.
Reply:yes software comes with mp3s but you cannot use i-tunes with mp3s
Reply:Can't you just use windows media player to put cds on it and then buy from like napster or something?
Reply:No matter which MP3 player you get you will be able to find software for importing CD's and also online stores willing to sell you music.

Personally I think Apple has the best software and the biggest range of music because it is the most popular. But check out the market...

I know you didn't ask for a brand war... but SanDisk and Creative offer decent alternatives.

If you look at the Microsoft Zune's software as an iPod user you will probably notice instantly that it is just a copy of the iTunes software. But hey... it offers software and a music store if you find it to be the better player for your usage.

Another thing... Microsoft had an old store called PlayForSure which a number of MP3 players supported purchased songs from. The Zune cannot play this music and the store is gone, so don't buy a player that uses PlayForSure!
Reply:With most MP3s, they simply appear in 'My Computer' as a mass storage device, and you can copy and paste MP3 files to them without the need for specialist software. It also makes it dead simple to transfer music from Limewire, where of course it is free.

I've always found this prefereable to iPods, which has pointlessly complicated software.
Reply:you can use windows media player for downloading songs onto most mp3 players. it is free.

Reply:I have an Ipod and my sister owns an MP3. I take my songs and convert them into MP3 format for her after loading her songs on and then just delete them
Reply:Yes you do get software with MP3 players. I have a Sony NW-E003F 1GB and this came with software called Sony Sonic Stage. It's brilliant and very easy to use. The MP3 player cost £79.99 (from Argos). You can burn songs from your own CDs onto your PC, which are all saved in the Sony Sonic Stage software then transfer them onto it, or you can download them. It's really easy to use and i had no problems using it. You charge it by plugging it straight into your USB port, and 3 mins charge gives you 3 hours playback. I have around 300 songs on mine at the moment, but there's room for more. Hope this helps!
Reply:you can put songs from ur cd for free
