MP3 to WAV?

For a presentation I want to loop about 30 secs of different songs through a powerpoint presentation. I found a wav program where I can rip sections of the song and then save it as a file. The problem is all my music is in mp3 format. Is there a way to convert mp3 files to .wav?

P.S. If you know how to cut and save about parts of an mp3 file and then put it into a powerpoint format then please elaborate on it. Thanks in advance guys.

MP3 to WAV?
Try Audacity for starters...it's freeware. It will do any basic editing job you need to as well as convert formats. Just chop up your files save as what you want and then import into PowerPoint.

Hope that helps

Best of luck.

Reply:Yes, you can go to WAV from MP3. As the first post suggested, try audacity, a freeware application.

Personally, i use SoftStunt, which can convert more file formats just in case you need to.

I hope this helps.
Reply:I don't believe you can "go back" to a .wav file from a .mpg file. I'm pretty sure the original was probably a .wav file which was then compressed into the mpg format. Since the mp3 compression uses a "lossy" compression algorithm, I don't think you can ever go back.

Note however that you can (according to Microsoft) insert an mp3 file into PowerPoint. (1) Display the slide to which you want to add music or sound effects. (2) On the Insert menu, point to Movies and Sounds, and then (3) Click Sound from File, locate the folder that contains the file that you want, and then double-click the file.

However it sounds like you want pieces of multiple songs so you need an mp3 editor. Sorry, can't help you there.
