Mp3 or Wma?

I just got an mp3 for christmas and I downloaded a bunch of songs from my laptop. These songs I downloaded from cd's to my laptop. When I see the songs on the player, it says wma. What does this mean? Does it take more or less space than mp3. By the way, the player is a Sony Walkman 2G. The player came with a mp3 conversion tool cd but I have not loaded it to my laptop. Should I?

Mp3 or Wma?
That depends on if you want to trade quality for quantity.

You should start with the WMA file. It will be the largest.

Run a trial using different bit-rates.

You probably won't like anything less than 128bits.

You can try it and listen. If you can't tell the difference, then convert all your files to 128 bits and you can get more music on your player.
Reply:Wma works fine...WIth 2g you'll have more than enough room. Most mp3 players cna play Wma as well.
Reply:mp3 makes less space and wma takes more space but good quilty
