Mp3/mp4 player purchased on ebay - 4 those who know ebay well!?

Am looking for an mp3 player with video but being a cheapskate and dont want to pay heaps. looked up on ebay and found one for 13.95, the postage cost more so 45.50 total. the seller has 98.5% positive and the product looks exactly what i want. I'm committed to buy now I have paid for it!

It says its samsung flash, is this the brand or am i being tricked into thinking its a samsung? I've tried looking it up elsewhere but only comes up with other ebay listings. the specifications read: 1GB MP4 MP3 Player 1.8"LCD Movie REC WMA FM 1G IC5-01R

Is this purchase a good one? I mean i've paid for it so little i acn do now but really want a good mp3 player and want to learn more about it.

Any help much appreciated. thanks in advance :-)

Ok --- let's hope and pray you receive the product, and that it is As Described.

First of all, the shipping cost of $45.50 is in violation of eBay's Excessive Shipping Charge policy, and should have been reported. It does NOT cost $45.50 to ship an mp3/mp4 player.

Second, the seller has horrible, horrible feedback. 98.5% is NOT Good!! Go into his feedback page, and READ it, I bet you will find a lot of unhappy customers. The rule of thumb on feedback is stick to regular sellers with a feedback rating of 98.6%, and if they are PowerSellers they feedback rating should be 99% or higher. High volume PowerSellers should be even higher at 99.5%.

I hope you paid by Paypal backed by a Credit card, cause that is only real protection there is. Paying by Paypal will let you file disputes in the chance that you do not receive your item. And DO NOT let the time limits pass to file a dispute.

Good luck.
Reply:Well... I found the item on Ebay. (thanks for including the description in your post) The good news is it looks like you didn't get totally scammed. I would try to present all this information coherently but I'm to tired so here's a list:

1. The seller has had 32 NEGATIVE feedback in the last month. This may seem like a lot but they've sold 973 with positive. Statistically you are likely to be okay.

2. If you read closely the item description does not state it is a Samsung device. It states the flash memory being used is made by samsung (you can tell because everywhere it says samsung in small letters near it it says "flash memory". And it's probably true, the flash memory they used to make this device probably is manufactured by samsung so they decided to use the brand to kinda mislead.

3. The other common thing that makers of these random oversea's MP3 players seem to do is falsely advertise the space on the players. This one seems legit at 1gb but many of them will list at 4 or 8gb and really only be half what they advertise because they are saying the storage is "equivalent" to the 4 or 8 with compression.

4. Don't expect fast shipping. It'll probably be 2 weeks or more.
